Claire Hodgskiss

Project administrator

Claire joined the MAEASaM project in September 2025 as one of the team administrators. With a D.Phil. in physics combined with a love of languages and culture, Claire brings long-standing personal and professional connections with the African continent to the team. She’s passionate about projects that are well organised, clearly documented, and make a genuine difference. Claire brings warmth, curiosity, and a can-do attitude to everything she does — always aiming to be helpful, supportive, and to make things work smoothly for everyone involved.

I am excited to be an integral part of a multinational project like MAEASaM, which ignites curiosity, builds global understanding, and shows how preserving heritage today can inspire the researchers and changemakers of tomorrow. It is an incredible reminder of how collaboration can cross continents and connect people through shared purpose. Engaging with Africa’s rich and diverse heritage in a meaningful, hands-on way will open doors for young scholars to learn, not just from data, but from people, places, and stories.

Outside of work Claire runs her own education social enterprise, loves to swim in local rivers, walks her beloved sighthound and enjoys playing Pokemon Go.
