Yesterday, MAEASaM and MAHSA ran an online #workshop on #historicalmaps, attended by 135 participants from 24 countries around the globe. Thank you to everyone who attended!
MAEASaM’s Ed Burnett and Renier van der Merwe presented on their experience using historical maps in Africa, including the difficulties inherent in often inaccurate maps, and problems of georeferencing and scale.
We would like to thank all of the presenters/organisers within both projects, particularly MAHSA’s training manager Dr Azadeh Vafadari. We hope the workshop helped show off the potential benefits of working with historical maps, and guide attendees towards methodologies of doing so.
